Chronicles of a Dreamworker Newsletter, v.58 – Insights for Intuitive Living
Happy Fall Equinox Dreamers!
Intuitive people can usually observe that they move through the world in a different way than most. Many of us don’t even feel at home within our family of origin. I always felt a great connection to my extended family growing up though, and cherished the traditions, bonds and memories of growing up in an Italian and Slavic Catholic family.
As I’ve studied and developed my own spirituality, I often wondered what my extended family, especially those that are no longer with us would think. Fortunately I’ve been able blessed to connect with enough of them on the other side to know that I immensely loved and supported by them still. If anything our bonds have become stronger as they can fully see me now.
“Who am I?” Is a question all of us ask ourselves at one point in our lives, in a spiritually-related context or otherwise. I have been fortunate to have made some recent discoveries that are helping me put the deeper pieces of my spiritual ancestry into place.
I had stumbled on to the concept of the Light and Dark Triangles, and became incredibly curious to discover that Turin, Italy serves as the only point shared by both triangles. Being that it is in Northern Italy, an ancestral homeland of mine only fueled my investigative fire.
It was during my research that I stumbled upon early Italian and Eastern European dream traditions and beliefs. In Italy, the Benandanti, or the good walkers would leave their bodies during sleep on certain days of the year to battle the “evil walkers” on behalf of Christ. Being of an agrarian culture, the Benandanti also believed this helped determine the health and bounty of the crops and wine.
I’ve been a lucid dreamer for my entire life, as well as a medium and intuitive. Divination seems to be a strong point for me, but dreaming has always been a major part of my life. Throughout my explorations of them there was always this warrior or battlement element to them – I often thought this was because I was helping people through trauma and transition in my dreams. I now realize that I am too fighting for the light in my dreams, just as my ancestors did. While they fought for the health of the crops and community, we now fight for the soul of humanity and technology.
To finally know and understand my purpose on a cellular level spiritually has changed me in ways I never expected. I went into the eclipse season in August one person and exited with a completely new understanding of myself and who I am. The fun doesn’t stop there either.
During my research of the Italian dreamwork traditions I stumbled upon it’s comparison to early Slavic dream practices and beliefs. They described things I had seen before many times in meditations and dreams. The World Tree consisting of three realms, the Nav, the spirit world at the roots, the Yav, the waking world of the trunk, and Pav, the canopy and highest realm of Divinity. This concept also aligns with the modern “Mallworld” dream concept that there is a shared consciousness in the dream realm.
I started to learn about healing techniques and recognized many of my personal practices that I’d learned from elders or just did on my own naturally. To be able to see both sides of my ancestry unfold hand in hand with such alignment of what I’ve experienced in this life has been incredible to experience. I feel as though as far as I’ve come, I’ve just only begun to understand how vast and deep my connection with the Holy Spirit is. I’ve seen myself doing this work in past lives, I now know why I am here in this life – to serve and share the light and love of the Holy Spirit with compassion, strength, and grace.
As much as these information has empowered me here in the waking world, it’s also had a tremendous impact on my dream life. I dream with a confidence and faith stronger than ever before. I no longer doubt myself or my intuition in my lucid dreams as I know I am following the call of the Holy Spirit in everything, even my dreamwork. It brings another level of reverence, humility and gratitude to know that I truly have been chosen for the role and this life. It also shows just how mysteriously and powerfully God chooses us all.
I also do this work to honor my ancestors, of which some were forced to keep their gifts hidden or secret for fear of harm from others. They served and healed anyways, and I carry their courage and love with me in everything I do. What a gift it is to know where you come from, and who you truly are. And like I said, I am only just beginning to understand the impacts of our traditions, prayers and bonds shared through time, but at least I know I never have been and never will be alone in this service of the light, I am carried by those who came before me.
