Let’s Learn Tarot – The Hermit

Chronicles of a Dreamworker Series

I love my intuitive work with cards, and I’ve recently felt the call to learn more about tarot. I’ve brought out my deck, borrowed Tarot Made Easy by Kim Arnold from the bliss co-op library, and am going to study a card every day. I would also love to discuss these more with others, so I’ll share one card a week and we can chat about them here!

This week’s card is The Hermit.

Oh, how I adore The Hermit card! It’s energy is exactly as you’d expect it to be. It calls for solitude, reflection, and meditation. The imagery of the card evokes just that as well. It pictures the hermit standing in his grey-white robe on a snow-covered mountain top. He is holding a staff to steady himself in one hand as the lantern in his other hand lights his way. He is reflective and his head is covered. It encourages us to retreat, contemplate, and take our time before moving forwards on our spiritual path.

The Hermit can appear when life gets so busy that we are missing an opportunity that might be meant for us. The Hermit also signals that the answers you seek cannot be purchased or sought in the material world, rather they are only found within. The Hermit encourages us to take our time and look inward to find our next steps forward.

The Hermit energy can also encourage others to find their own paths and remind us that we each have our own paths to follow. We cannot burden ourselves or others with paths that aren’t ours. Reversed this card can signify loneliness or introversion.

Overall The Hermit card wants us to find balance in the stillness we can only find within ourselves. It’s important to take time out and ground in the serenity you need to help light your way forwards.

If you’re in the Charleston area, be sure to join us at bliss Spiritual Co-op on the first Saturday of every month for our oracle/tarot card circle! We have tea, coffee, and bagels, and it’s free and open to all! Donations to bliss are welcomed. You can also borrow or purchase a new deck from bliss as well! You can get more info and RSVP for our upcoming October 3 circle here.
