Spring/Summer 2025

Storytelling has been the way I process my feelings and experiences since before I even knew what storytelling was. Through writing, art, design and basically anything creative, everything I’ve ever made has centered around the power of a story.
Some stories are more difficult to tell than others. Sometimes telling that story in as many different ways as possible is the only way to feel that your truth has fully been told.
As a patient advocate I have told my story of surviving bacterial meningitis and a spinal cord injury to millions of people on some of the world’s largest platforms. Yet it’s creating my own platform that has felt like finding a missing piece to the puzzle that I’ve been searching for since I got sick.
As such, I’ve created my first poetry zine produced and published by my creative studio, Black Swamp. The first Spring/Summer 2025 Issue focuses on my journey to adulthood as a young woman grappling with the complexities of disability and chronic health issues.
Only 24 print copies of the zine will be made. Each copy will be signed and numbered. Print copies are available for $10 each, and includes postage to the domestic US. Digital copies are available as well for $5.
Pre orders are available on blackswamp.co and will ship at the end of June.
I hope that this will be the first of many more zines and stories to come. It’s an honor to share this space with you, and thank you for your continued support of independent writers and poetry!
